QANTAS will soon be launching WiFi on some of its aircraft, as part of cabin upgrades to its Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 fleet which are mainly used on interstate and international routes. QANTAS says that WiFi will not only be a benefit to passengers, but its crew as well.
In a blog post on the QANTAS website, they said: (through the WiFi) "Richer information on real time weather expected along the flight path wich could be used to dodge areas of turbulence and make better use of tailwinds to reduce flying time.
They also said that "Engineers can closely monitor the technical performance of the aircraft in real-time and be ready if something needs attention"
Virgin Australia also has plans to add WiFi to its 737, A330 and 777 fleet by mid 2017
